Electro-Motive Class 59 - 59103 Village of Mells in ARC Livery

First introduced in 1986, the Class 59's were the first of a long line of American built locomotives to run on the UK network. Originally ordered by Foster Yeoman for hauling heavy stone trains from the large Somerset Quarry at Merehead, the rival ARC Southern ordered a number of Class 59's themselves in the early 1990's, principally to operate their own heavy stone trains from Whatley Quarry.

59101 was named Village of Mells and painted in ARC Southern Mustard and Grey Livery.
