London Underground 1962 Tube Stock 4-car Motorised Underground Train
The 1962 Tube Stock was built in the early 1960s for operation on London Underground deep level lines. Production continued from the preceding ‘1959 tube stock’ and was an almost identical design with the same unpainted aluminium bodies, traction equipment and braking systems. Primarily intended to replace ‘Standard tube stock’ on the Central line, ‘1962 tube stock’ was also used on the Piccadilly and Northern lines.
Central line trains typically operated in 8-car formations consisting of two 4-car units. This 4-car set has been modelled on a 1990s Central line unit, Train No 32, working to West Ruislip and comprises:
Car A: Driving Motor Car No 1648
Car B: Trailer Car No 2648
Car C: Non-Driving Motor Car No 9649
Car D: Driving Motor Car No 1649
